WHERE IS YOUR HUMANITY?
How you know you’ve lost your humanity: when your religious believes overshadow compassion in your heart.
How you know you’ve lost your mind: when spirituality overrides your common sense and critical thinking.
How you know you’ve lost the future: when you do not have the courage to question anything.
The two most lucrative industries in Nigeria, which are also the background for our mediocrity and backwardness as a people:
1. Religion
2. Public Service/Politics
For anything good and different to happen for us, we must summoned up the courage to question everything that’s not right in these two areas of our lives, it doesn’t matter how many thousands of years those odd believes and practices have been there.
I have decided to speak up against regressive religious orientations and greed in public service until something positive begins to happen.
This is not because I have suddenly become jobless or less-busy, in fact, I have never been busier and more productive in my career. I run one of Africa’s most successive creative businesses and the workload on my desk every day is more enormous than you can imagine. Neither am I cynical or a sadist, my friends know me to be a very happy and positive person.
However, our individual successes will amount to nothing in the future, in a nation where nothing is designed to work and the people are in bondage to their own believes and practices.
I thank God, that at this point in my life, all that matters to me is not just making money and being fine as a person, I am becoming more aware of the world I live in at large and growing in my sense of responsibility to creating a better future. As I embark on this new way of life, you have your right to disagree with me, unfriend me, block me and hate me. Your disapproval won’t reduce my account balance, and most importantly, the next plate of Okra soup and semovita I’m expecting will go down well regardless. Amen!
