Growing up from a less privileged background I heard so much about “connections”…’if only we had connections, we would be this and that, we could be here and there…’ So I looked forward to someday that I would be connected to people of influence. Fast-forward >>>

Today that we’ve got lots of ‘connections’, I realise nobody owes you anything except the value for what you sell. Infact, being overly connected is a liability, most of them want to take than give.

As a young person, put your mind and energy on developing value and building an irresistible brand. Stop chasing celebrities around, stop offering yourself as their handbag. If you like, be around a million celebrities, if you don’t offer a substantial value, nobody will offer you any favour. If you work hard enough, someday you would sit in your office, and your secretary would call…”sir/ma, so…so…so dignitaries are here to see you”. And it will turn out to be some people you used to work so hard to meet years ago. They will show up unsolicitedly and enthusiastically to patronise you, they will call your line so much you’d avoid many calls…you’d be saying something like ‘ooooooh my God!! Don Jazzy can call too much!!!! He won’t understand I’m so busy, I’m yet to deliver Wizkid’s job.’ That is what is called CONNECTION, not having hundreds of phone numbers or business cards of people who don’t give a damn about your existence; people that every time you call them you have to re-introduce yourself and your ancestors. Enough already!!! Let your talent, skills, passion, brand and self-esteem make way for you. You are the connection you’ve been searching for! It’s in you…(not Peak Milk oo) – greatness, connect with it!
