Akapo’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2007 when he started Tenstrings Music Institute in a friend’s garage as a part-time hustle. Through his unwavering passion, strategic vision, and hands-on approach, he has nurtured the institute into the premier destination for music education in Nigeria, with five campuses nationwide. Under his leadership, Tenstrings has produced numerous music superstars, including DJ Spinall, Eva Alordiah, and Judikay, solidifying its reputation as a talent incubator.
In 2022, Akapo further expanded his impact on Africa’s creative landscape by founding the International College of Creative Arts (ICCA), Nigeria’s first private college dedicated to the creative arts. ICCA offers 3-year Bachelor of Arts programs in collaboration with European partner universities, providing students with the opportunity to pursue accredited degrees in fields such as fashion, filmmaking, web design, and interior decor, in addition to music.
Akapo’s multifaceted expertise extends far beyond music education. He is an acclaimed author, award-winning songwriter, festival organizer, and social innovator who has founded and successfully run several other creative enterprises, including Africa Heritage International (AHI). As a sought-after authority in the music business, Akapo has established himself as an astute expert focused on education, artist development, showbiz, and arts-for-change initiatives across Africa.
Akapo’s commitment to youth development and social innovation is evidenced by his extensive involvement in community work. He is a member of Rotary International, where he served as the youth chair from 2017 to 2020, and the founder of the Lekki Community Choir, which he directed from 2013 to 2018. Additionally, he chairs the governing board of the Black Fragrance Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering underserved communities.
